Life's Not Square
In an attempt to continue making our house beautiful and organized(still a long time coming), Ryan got to putting up some shelving. The shelves were placed in a little awkward space in a room which hopefully will soon be our office/entertainment room. Upon the first attempts to get the shelves level and in place, Ryan came out to me in frustration and exclaimed "Why can't anything in this house be square?!" We have run into this problem more than once, or should I say a hundred times, while working in our fixer-upper of a home...wall corners aren't square, studs aren't in places where we need an anchor, floors aren't level, paint isn't sticking to walls, windows won't shut, grass won't grow, lights don't switch, plugs won't operate, drains won't drain, not enough counterspace, not enough money, not enough brains...the list goes on. Basically in the last year, we've found that life doesn't come square, but if you take it one dried up paintbrush(woops) at a time, then you'll eventually make it. The more pitfalls you make it out alive, the more you learn and the more levels you move up the handyman ladder. Ryan is already a level 3(or so we've labeled it)..in reading this to him, he got his sad face and says to me..."I'm only a 3?" yes Ryan you are only a 3....we still have many years to come. All in all we're thriving not merely surviving, and we're loving this little home we are creating. Life is not square but with a little help, you learn it doesn't matter, there's always a way around the problem and someone who can help you out...and some day, maybe soon, you'll be a level 4.
